Covid-19 Relief Efforts

The COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent lockdown (25th March to 14th April) to stop the virus spread has affected the poor and needy slum settlements and villages drastically. No shops are open, so no groceries items, and vegetables are available for them.

The slum dwellers in Bhopal claim that this has been by far the worst time together they have faced as a family. Since they are daily wagers they are unable to go for work and hence they are unpaid.

Volunteers at the New Life Development Society rose up to the cause and engaged with the district administration to give away essentials such as cereals, pulses, and oil for

food and masks, soap and sanitary pads for hygiene during these trying times.

Taking advantage of this time the NLDS workers also shared about the importance of hygiene and social distancing. The overall distribution was done in the presence of the police personnel in Bhopal. The slum people express gratitude for this timely help during the lockdown.
